Tyler County Speedway Prepares for 2022 Season with Action Packed Schedule

With the Hometown Racing Association entering its ninth season at the helm of one of America’s raciest venues, more prominently known as the ‘Bullring’ fans are in for a treat as the 22’ season will once again be among one of the most fan friendly and diverse schedules in motorsports. As another stellar line-up of events await race teams and fans during the Tyler County Speedway’s 48th year of operation.

Eager racers will get their first laps on America’s Baddest Bullring on Saturday, March 26th with Test, Tune and Time Trial along with the annual Joe Dirt 100 Enduro. With the 2022 campaign officially taking the green on Saturday Night, April 2nd for the 48th Season Opener as the regions best turn some crucial laps in preparation for the early season Hillbilly 100.

How big is 2022 going to be you ask? How does Double Hillbilly 100’s grab you? After the last day of the 53rd Annual event would succumb to Mother Nature in 2021, race officials opted to reschedule for Friday Night, April 8th as the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Series will roll into town with $30,000 on the line in the makeup event. Armbands from the 2021 event will be good and for new ticket buyers tickets are available online for the early season and epic running of the ‘Granddaddy’ of short track major events. As the 2022 season comes in with a bang with the 53rd edition we will look to close out the summer in ‘Almost Heaven’ fashion with the 3-day weekend, 54th Hillbilly 100 on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-4th. We welcome the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Series back to the ‘Bullring’ for their 2nd visit of the season for another $30,000 100 lap Hillbilly 100!

The gates will open at Tyler County Speedway on 26 occasions in 2022 with several new events planned along with a plethora of ‘Bullring’ mainstays fans have come accustom to. From classics such as the 28th Annual Topless 50 on April 30 to the 34th Annual Earl Hill Memorial on Sunday, May 29th as part of the Legends of the Ring Night, the Tyler County Speedway will be the place to be all summer long. Other notable events include the 12th Annual Pat Herrick Memorial for Steel Block Late Models on Saturday, April 9th, 18th Annual Dickson Classic on Sunday, May 29th, Tammy Clegg Tribute for Hotmods on Saturday, June 11th, 20th Annual Eaton/Childers King of the Ring welcoming the RUSH Late Model Tour to town in the first of two visits on Saturday, July 23rd, the 10th Annual Bud Weigle Memorial as we kick off the 60th Tyler County Fair on Saturday, July 30th and the 2nd Annual Mini Wedge Buckwheat Memorial, slated for July 3rd.

Built and opened in 1974 by the Tyler County Fair Association, Tyler County Speedway is a motorsports complex affectionately known as the ‘Bullring’ and features a ¼ mile high bank clay oval. The facility is promoted by the Hometown Racing Association, and located 3 ½ miles south of Middlebourne, WV on State Rt. 18 at the Tyler County Fairgrounds approximately an hour from Wheeling, Clarksburg & Parkersburg. Featuring a spacious scenic campground along the Middle Island Creek with hookups, shelters, playgrounds, showers and bathroom facilities among other amenities to enhance the racing experience at West Virginia’s premier motorsports venue.

Tyler County Speedway’s weekly Saturday night racing program runs from April to September each year, featuring Super Late Models, RUSH Late Models, UMP Modifieds, EDGE Hotmods, Sportmods, SCDRA 4 Cylinders and Mini Wedges.
