“Giving Cancer the Black Flag” Fundraising Race Returns to Tyler County Speedway June 7
Middlebourne, WV — The fight against cancer takes center stage at Tyler County Speedway on Saturday, June 7, as the annual “Giving Cancer the Black Flag” fundraising event returns, led by Chad Smith Racing #10s. The community-driven initiative benefits Wetzel & Tyler Counties Hope and Memories, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients with travel assistance during treatment.
Founded with the mission to ease the burden for patients traveling to treatment centers, Hope and Memories, a registered 501(c)(3) organization based in Wetzel County, provides gas cards to help cover the cost of transportation. With the help of fundraising events like this, the organization continues to bring hope and relief to families during some of their most difficult times.
Last year’s event, in partnership with Tyler County Speedway, drivers, and generous sponsors, raised over $18,000. This year, the stakes are even higher as the Modified feature will pay $2,000 to win, with additional bonuses and lap money up for grabs—drawing some of the area’s most competitive talent and showcasing their support for this important cause.
How to Help:
Donations—whether monetary or raffle items—can be made directly to Hope and Memories or Chad Smith Racing, dropped off at Tyler County Speedway, or delivered to Jenkins Auto Parts in Middlebourne.
“Giving Cancer the Black Flag” is more than just a race—it’s a testament to the strength and generosity of the racing community, uniting fans, drivers, and sponsors to drive out cancer, one lap at a time.
