Tyler County Speedway Unveils 2018 History Making Schedule

(Middlebourne, WV) Entering year number six under the Hometown Racing Association banner the Tyler County Speedway affectionately known nationally as the ‘Bullring’ is pleased to release the 2018 schedule of events for the upcoming 44th season of continuous operation at the Middlebourne, WV speedway. 

Since opening in June of 1974, the Tyler County Speedway has been a favorite among racers and fans throughout the mountain state.  Known for its high banked exciting track configuration, three and four wide racing action, highly competitive divisions, a diverse special event lineup of races second to none and most importantly a loyal die-hard fan base.  

The 2018 season at the Middlebourne oval will be one for the record books as the speedway will play host to the biggest motorsports event in track history as the ‘Granddaddy’ of all Super Late Model major events will celebrate a milestone as the Hillbilly Hundred turns fifty.  The 50th edition of Carl Short’s Legendary Hillbilly 100 will welcome the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Series to town Labor day weekend Aug. 31-Sept. 2nd paying a record $50,000 to win.  A West Virginia tradition for five decades, the 2018 version of the Hillbilly will be one for the ages as the Tyler County Speedway welcomes the dirt racing community to spend Labor Day weekend at the Bullring. 

The season will kick off in earnest on Saturday, March 24th with Test, Tune & Time as fans are invited out to check out the new 2018 rides as the racers tune their machines for the opener.  Plus the first of four Tyler County Speedway Enduro events will take to the track as the speedway hosts the ‘Joe Dirt 100’.  The lid officially come off the season Saturday Night, March 31st as we celebrate 44 years of motorsports excitement as the ‘Road to the 50th Hillbilly 100’ begins. 

All the fan favorite events of the past will dot the 26 race schedule including the 30th Annual Earl Hill Memorial on Saturday, April 7, Topless Night at the ‘Bullring’ featuring the 24th Topless 50 and the Let It Ride 55 will roll off on Saturday, May 5th.  The 17th Annual Eaton/ Childers FASTRAK King of the Ring on Saturday, May 19th and the ‘Battle of the Bullring’ on Memorial Day weekend.  Plus the Bud Weigle Memorial on Saturday, July 28th traditionally kicks off the 56th Annual Tyler County Fair. 

Tyler County Speedway is known for hosting special events and 2018 will be no different as we welcome several sanctioning bodies and tours to the high banks of the ‘Bullring’.  A co-sanctioned Ultimate NE/ Ultimate MOV Super Late Earl Hill Memorial on April 7th, the UEMS Mods and Lates invade as part of the Mega Weekend June 1st and 2nd.  The always favorite Big Block Modified Tour makes a stop on Saturday, April 14th and we are pleased to welcome back the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series on Saturday, June 30th.  The FASTRAK National Tour will roll into town in anticipation of the $7k to win ‘Great American Crate Race on Saturday, July 7th.  The new RUSH 602 Sprints will make an inaugural visit on Saturday Night, August 11th.  Making their first visit to the ‘Bullring’ will be the Summit American Modified Series as part of the $15,000 to win 4th Annual Mega 100 with the national STARS Modlite series also competing for twin $1k paydays on the giant Mega weekend. 

Just like always at the Tyler County Speedway several fan friendly events adorn the most entertaining schedule in the region from ‘Pack the Track 5 FREE Night’ on Saturday, May 26th to Meet Your Heroes ‘Selfie Night’ on April 28th, Kids Luv Racing Night on July 14th and Family Fun events such Kings of Karnage on Saturday, June 9th and Redneck Thunder on Saturday June 23rd

Several exciting series will reward our racers as the seven race ‘Road to the 50th Hillbilly Hundred Mini Series’ will see the regions top Super Late Model teams shootout for a point fund and provisional into the summers biggest race.  Plus the areas most economical division, the EDGE Hotmod will square off in the traditional Workin’ Man World Championship series while the Sport Compact division will see a four race slate dubbed the ‘Sport Compact Full Throttle Series’ parlay their talents.  The Tyler County Speedway is also pleased to bring back the Enduro Series for Round 2 after an exciting 2017 campaign, the 2018 edition will see a 4-5 race series once again crowning a champion in the exciting Enduro Series. 

The Tyler County Speedway will feature its weekly regular racing classes including two classes of Late Models as the highly popular Super Late Models and FASTRAK Late Models perform weekly along with the very competitive AMRA Modifeds, economical EDGE Hotmods, Modlites, and budget minded Sport Compacts and future racers of the MWRA Mini Wedges.
