56th Annual Hillbilly Hundred Marred by Weather; Refund Information

After a sweltering and dry August that left Middlebourne, WV in extreme drought conditions, Mother Nature had other plans for the 56th Annual Hillbilly 100 weekend.

Friday night kicked off the event with strong performances, as David Stremme and Nick Evans captured the weekend’s first victories. However, the excitement was short-lived. A severe thunderstorm rolled through the area on Saturday afternoon, bringing high winds and torrential rain, which ultimately forced the cancellation of Saturday night’s races. The rain persisted throughout the night, turning the Bullring pit area into a muddy quagmire.

Despite the track staff’s dedicated efforts to dry out the pit area on Sunday morning, conditions remained unsuitable for racing. Unfortunately, after discussions with the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Series, no suitable reschedule dates were available, leading to the cancellation of the 2024 Hillbilly 100.

For race fans who purchased one-day tickets for Saturday or Sunday through www.tylercountyspeedwayonline.com, refunds will be issued via MyRacePass. Those who ordered single-day tickets by phone or at the track can call 304-771-5661 for a refund.

Fans who purchased three-day tickets can mail their armbands to Tyler County Speedway, PO Box 475, Middlebourne, WV 26149, for a refund. Three-day advance general admission ticket holders ($70) will receive a $55 refund, while those who purchased at the gate will receive a $60 refund. For three-day advance pit pass purchases ($85), a $55 refund will be issued, and those who purchased at the gate will receive a $60 refund. Please note that all refund requests must be postmarked by October 1st.

We sincerely thank all the loyal race fans who have supported the Hillbilly 100 and the Tyler County Speedway over the years. We apologize to both racers and fans for the challenges faced this weekend.
