EDGE Readies For Seasons First HOTMOD “Workin’ Mans World Championship” Qualifier Race!
(Middlebourne, WV) – The first of five “Workin’ Mans World Championship” qualifier races is set for Saturday May 2nd, a part of Tyler County Speedway’s 21st annual ‘Topless 50′ event, where the Late Models, FASTRAK LM and the EDGE Hot Mods will all be running ‘topless’ giving the fans the rare birds-eye view as they pilot their powerful machines around the oval in an impressive triple bill of topless racing action.
The 2014 event earned the OVDTR “race of the year”, as Sonny Conley blasted around the high line, passing race leaders Keith Barbara and Paul Wilmoth Jr who had been locked in a 15 lap plus side by side battle of their own.
The nation’s second oldest Late Model topless main event has become a “must see” event, as the extended lap shows at “the Bullring” always seem to bring out the best teams and provide the best racing action for the fans.
As the Topless 50 race reaches full maturity in it’s 21st year, the EDGE Hot Mods, the region’s original and most competitive economy modified class, is seeing an unparalleled growth spurt. No longer in it’s infancy, the class continues to grow, bringing new talent and excitement with it.
‘WMWC’ qualifier winning drivers will still receive this unequaled keepsake, but drawing their choice, with the enclosed starting position number, will be held the night of the ‘WMWC’ in front of the race night crowd in attendance. In a scene similar to the game show ‘Deal or No Deal’, the starting position die will be cast as the lunch boxes are chosen!
These drivers as well as the top class point drivers not already in will lock into the dash race for the 2nd Annual $2,000 to win “Working Mans World Championship.” All other starters will advance into the big dance through traditional preliminary race procedures.
EDGE Hotmod racers will once again find themselves battling for a lucrative qualifier the following weekend, May 9th in which the second qualifier for the ‘WMWC’ will be held.
The EDGE Hot Mods will headline in the 9th annual ‘Tammy Clegg Tribute’ race paying $500 to the winner in a special & highly anticipated event that memorializes one of the tracks most successful female racers.
The class racers have long circled the back to back qualifiers on their racing calendars, many still burning the midnight oil to put the finishing touches on their 2015 machines. Blue collar racing fans will be the benefactors as the working class will duke it out for bragging rights and a guaranteed starting spot in the 2015 “Workin’ Man World Championship”!
