A Packed House Enjoys Kings of Karnage at the Tyler County Speedwayadmin
(Middlebourne, WV) After struggling with Mother Nature for much of the seasons first two months, fans were finally greeted to a picturesque Saturday evening at the Tyler County Speedway. A packed house of thrill seeking fans would show up strong as the Hometown Racing Association and Thomas Motorsports would present the Kings of Karnage. With 153 entrants set to do battle the stage was set for an epic night at the ‘Bullring’. Featuring a full night of intense action that would see a little bit of everything, from photo finishes, first time winners, to car crunching mayhem, behemoth racing buses, kids power wheels and an insane ‘Ricky Bobby’ 100 lap Enduro.
A record thirty four Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmods presented by Poske Performance Parts would sign in looking to guarantee themselves a starting spot in the end of year Simonton Windows Workin’ Man World Championship. As per promoter John Watson’s guarantee that if more than thirty hotmods are present the track will run two full paying feature purses. This would allow Tim Pennell and Scott Moore to both etch their first feature wins of the season and guarantee themselves a top starting spot in the WMWC. New Martinsville, West Virginia’s Pennell would pick up his first ever feature event holding off a host of former feature winners in Tom Sigler, Travis Thomas, Mick Baker and Kenny Isner. In feature #2, making his season debut, Harrisville, WV’s Scott Moore would lead wire to wire in the Moore Motorsports, WVW Properties, sharp looking Harris chassis over a charging Rocky Mayle, a steady Daniel Muldrew, Jordan Shaffer and Paul Baker.
A very healthy and talent laden field of 24 Jenkins Auto Parts Modlites would pay a visit to the ‘Bullring’ with New Matamoras, Ohio’s Tyler Riggs parking it for the first time in the Tyler County Speedway victory lane. It wouldn’t come easy as the talented racer would have to hold off a determined Josh Baldwin for the victory. Following Riggs and Baldwin across the line would be modlite veteran Tracy Fritter in his first appearance of the season, Mitch Ward and Brandon Fluharty.
With over a twenty year track record of outstanding Mini Wedge racing at the Tyler County Speedway, Saturday Night’s Gear 2 Graphics MWRA Senior division may have put on the best race ever seen in the division. Called for an early race caution and sent to the tail, three time winner Gage Stalder would hold his composure and work his way back to the lead pack which consisted of Luke Hyre, Lucas Zombotti, Landon Marple, Ethan McCune and Trent Baker. All six drivers were drafting Talladega style as a blanket would literally cover the front six. Coming out of turn four and headed for the checkered it would be Gage Stalder with all the right moves to just inch ahead at the stripe to complete his incredible run from the tail and tally his fourth ‘Bullring’ win of the season. Following Stalder would be Hyre, Zombotti, Marple and McCune. Picking up the Junior division would be Tripp Perine for the third time this season.
Figure 8 racing ace Kyle McFadden of Sardis, Ohio would park the 16Jr. in victory lane ahead of Jason Glover and Zach Travis. Crunching his way to the win in the Full Size Demo Derby was Jared Pittman of Lewisville, Ohio while outlasting the competition in the Compact Demolition Derby was David Cline of Woodsfield, Ohio.
Picking up the win in the Ricky Bobby 100 Enduro was Linesville, Pennsylvania Tim Gillette ahead of Richard Britton, Chad Dotson, Joseph Taylor and Timothy Drain.
In the highly anticipated ‘Bus’ race it would be West Union’s Zach Travis aboard the USA 2 bus that would cross the line first and repeat his win from a year ago. A photo finish at the line for second between Ralph Thomas and John Watson would please the packed house on hand.
Sixteen Power Wheels strong would take to the track at intermission as the little tikes would break out their battery powered jeeps, trucks, corvette’s and more and look to swap a little paint, bust some balloons and run over many of parents toes as a great time was had by all.
Be sure to head back to the ‘Bullring’ next Saturday Night, June 10th as the Hometown Racing Association presents ‘Pack the Track IV’, where you can enjoy a full night of racing action at the ridiculous cost of FREE!
