Three Days of Late Model Racing Action Highlight Biggest Race in Bullring History!
(Middlebourne, WV) Just over a month away as America’s Baddest Bullring heads down the homestretch as just two events remain on the 2018 regular season schedule before the biggest race in Mountain State and Tyler County Speedway history converges on the quaint Middlebourne, West Virginia town. Initial ticket sales to the 50th Annual General Tire Hillbilly 100 have been brisk but fans are urged to get in on the best deal in motorsports by purchasing your advance tickets and reserve seats to the can’t miss event of the summer.
Hall of Fame Promoter Carl Short and the Hometown Racing Association, promoters of the Tyler County Speedway, in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Series and Arizona Sport Shirts are excited to present the ‘Granddaddy’ of all Dirt Late Model major events, the General Tire 50th Hillbilly Hundred this Labor Day Weekend. The 50th edition of America’s oldest dirt late model major event will see an unprecedented purse and record winners share in 2018 as the victor will walk away with a whopping $50,000.
A match made in ‘Hillbilly Heaven’ as the tradition laden ‘Granddaddy’ of them all at one of the raciest joints in all of motorsports will welcome the best race fans in motorsports back to the Mountain State for another edition of Carl Short’s ‘Hillbilly’, Labor Day weekend, August 31st -September 2nd.
The stars and cars of the nations premier traveling circuit the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Racing Series will return to the Tyler County Speedway with $50,000 dollars and a one-of-a-kind championship trophy going to the winner of the 50th Annual Hillbilly 100. After last years thrilling 49th edition that still has race fans buzzing, look for defending race winner Jonathan Davenport and 2nd place finisher Tim McCreadie who thrilled fans with his 19th to 2nd charge to be back. Along with the rest of the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Series roster consisting of 2017 Series champion and local Shinnston, WV superstar Josh Richards, Dirt Track Dominator Scott Bloomquist, Jimmy Owens, Earl Pearson Jr., Bobby Pierce, Don O’Neil, Hudson O’Neil, Darrell Lanigan, Dennis Erb Jr., Gregg Satterlee, Mason Zeigler, Kyle Bronson and more as they arrive at the ‘Bullring’ to do battle against the mid-ohio valley’s best super late model pilots and a shot at adding their name to the sports history book.
While the campground will be open all week long, the pit area will open for business on Thursday Night as eager teams race to secure their favorite pit spot and ‘bust a move’ at the first of many traditional ‘Hillbilly’ pit parties. The action gets underway in earnest on Friday Night as the Tyler County Speedway will kick off the weekend highlighted by the always popular ‘Hillbilly 50’ Steel Block Late Model main paying $4,000 to win plus a guaranteed starting spot in the Hillbilly 100 always brings a stellar field of steel blocks to the ‘Bullring’. Prelims for the EDGE Hotmods, Modlites and Sport Compacts along with open practice for Super Lates, FASTRAK Lates and AMRA Modifieds will round out night #1.
The racing smorgasboard of speed will continue on Saturday Night, Sept. 1st as the eve of the Hillbilly 100 will showcase some of the sports best grassroot racers. Talk with any avid dirt track fan and they all admit that Saturday Night’s portion of the Hillbilly 100 is some of the best three wide racing seen anywhere. An incredible lineup featuring a final tune-up for the Super Late Models paying $5,000 to win in the ‘Outhouse 30’ along with the FASTRAK Late Models squaring off for $2,000 to win in the running of the ‘Brown Jug 30’. Likewise the AMRA Modifieds will square off for $2,000 to win and title of winner in the ‘White Lightnin’ 30’. Plus feature events in the EDGE Hotmod ‘Lil’ Hilly 20’, Modlite ‘Sour Mash 20’ and Sport Compact ‘Ridge Runner 20’.
On Sunday September 2nd, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will roll into town to headline the grand-daddy of all Late Model major events paying a record $50,000 to win ‘Hillbilly Hundred’. Plus the Ohio Valley Roofers Legends Cars will be on hand in support of the massive event with the running of the ‘Billy Bob 20’.
