Tyler County Speedway
April 29th, 2019
For Immediate Release
(Middlebourne, WV) Rich in tradition earned through the hard work of many men and women throughout four decades, the Tyler County Speedway remains as a perfect reminder of longstanding grassroots family entertainment. Since its inception in 1974, the Tyler County Speedway remains a local source of pride in the small town of Middlebourne, WV.
The ‘Bullring’, known nationally by many, is where our neighbors, friends and families have grown up with some of the sports iconic legends and witnessed many rising talents for the next generation of short track racing in the Ohio Valley. As the track inches closer to celebrating five decades of continuous operation, more emphasis is needed on renovating the facility while preserving Tyler County Speedway’s incredible past.
The Hometown Racing Association, the current promoters of the Tyler County Speedway, are creating an initiative called the Bullring Booster Club, a program designed to help build the future of the speedway. The goal of the Bullring Booster club remains simple but vital, continue the tradition of local entertainment while modernizing into one of America’s greatest grassroots racing facilities.
A main purpose of the Bullring Booster Club is to help secure the Tyler County Speedway’s future, support and promote the sport of short track racing, further initiate local community involvement and create fellowship among the racing community. The Bullring Booster Club will offer several benefits to club members including the ‘Buy A Bleacher’ Reserved Seat, ensuring a personalized reserved seat through the 2021 season. Additionally, member only functions such as an Annual Club Picnic, voting rights in the ‘Bullring of Honor’, plus other fine benefits making your membership a worthwhile contribution.
The current priority and goal of the Bullring Booster Club is raising enough funds to acquire the necessary bleacher improvements needed for a fan friendly, more comfortable experience and most importantly safe weekly environment at Tyler County Speedway. The Hometown Racing Association, Tyler County Fairboard and Tyler County Speedway are excited to be able to launch Phase Six: The Bleacher Phase, with plans underway for demolition of the current wooden stands slated to come down following the 2019 Hillbilly 100 with new front-stretch seating to be installed prior to the 2020 racing season. The seating will accommodate over 2600 fans in all aluminum style and structure. New ADA handicap seating will be made available along with the comfort of aisle ways, a five foot walk way and elevated front row seating.
“Our goal when taking over as promoters of the speedway was ensuring Tyler County Speedway stays a place for our community to be proud of” states John Watson, track lease holder. “We’ve done so much in our six years at the helm. Improvements in excess of $200,000 have been done to lighting, electrical, racing surface, press boxes, pit towers, vip suites and more. But the reality is there is more that needs done that financially isn’t feasible without a group effort” concluded Watson.
Charles Jordan of Bleacher Builders Inc., recently met with Tyler County Speedway to discuss the plans and make it official. Bleacher Builders Inc., has been tearing down seats and installing bleachers for over a decade including at venues like Daytona, Atlanta, Homestead Miami, Volusia, Plymouth, and more.
