(Middlebourne, WV) – Race fans are anxiously waiting as the 3nd Annual Modified “MEGA 100” is set to get the green flag this weekend at Tyler County. Racers from a dozen states are finishing preparation on their cars to head to Middlebourne, WV where over $55,000+ stands up for grabs to the open wheel division July 1st – 2nd. The hills of the ‘Mountain State’ will roar with dirt modified mania once more featuring the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour competing for a $10,000 finale on Sunday night, the biggest in the East this season. Super Late Models are also on the card for a pair of shows with $7,000 earmarked on Sunday nights finale for the full fendered division. Just like last season we are here to give you our top fifty incredible reasons why you can’t miss the event of the summer this weekend in 2017;
1 – The best modified racers in the world. The best of the best unite under the lights of “The Bullring” to showcase their skills and a shot at the largest purse in the East. Pre-entries have already been gathered from multiple feature winners this season, current points leaders, and many more area hotshoes.
2 – An awesome weekend ticket price. Two day packages are value-priced at just $50 for adults. Reserved seats for the event are only $5 dollars.
3 – Two huge nights of Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour action. With complete racing programs topped by 25-lap, $3,000-to-win A-Mains on Saturday leading into the featured ‘MEGA 100’, 50 lap $10,000 to win Finale on Sunday.
4 – One of the best dirt modified events in the United States. There’s no other event like it in the East and very few in the entire country that matches it’s atmosphere and prize money. Light sticks, music, fireworks, intros, and so much more.
5 – Passing Points. Utilizing a passing points formula the racers have only one option, PASS CARS! In order to earn into the big one on Saturday these gunslingers must shoot themselves to the top of a heat race to earn valuable points that set the feature lineup.
6 – Money, money, money. The “MEGA 100” put’s up the cash. With $55,000+ on the line it near doubles any other event in the region and is the areas only five figure modified show.
7 – The Bullring. Highly regarded as one of the nation’s raciest venues featuring three and four wide action all over, this little quarter mile sure lives up to it’s nickname ‘yal.
8 – Pre-race. An incredible Saturday pre-race show that features a unique display of 1200+ light sticks and a completely dark venue as we hype up the starting roster.
9 – A hard-working track-prep crew. Charlie Kimball, John Watson, Daniel Patterson, and others bring decades of knowledge into the racing surface at the MEGA. The crew will spend hours upon hours working the track with their equipment during the event, doing their best to ensure multi-groove racing from start to finish.
10 – It’s a party! If you want to find some late-night campground action, then you can’t miss the MEGA 100 weekend. Just meander through the camping area and you’re sure to come across groups of fans hanging out and enjoying themselves.
11 – We don’t forget about the Late Models. Both nights of competition will feature the full fendered stars. Saturday Super Late Models fight for $3k plus the FASTRAK Late Models for $1k and Sunday the Super Late Model division goes for $7k plus Steel Blocks battle for $1k.
12 – Feature start pay. A staple for drawing cars is start money. The MEGA 100 has one of the best starting pays of any modified event in the country. Over $700 will be guaranteed to drivers who make all A-Mains including $500 on the final night.
13 – The Mountain State. A beautiful blend of mountains and hayfields lead the way into the speedway this time of year. There’s no better scenic summer race-cation than the Tyler County Fairgrounds.
14 – Large grandstands. Plenty of room to accommodate you comfortably as well as your cooler or your entire family. Additionally, reserved seating is available.
15 – Beautiful campgrounds. Setting by a mountainous backdrop with the smell of bbq in the little country town of Middlebourne. It’s a relaxing small town destination all on it’s own.

16 – Rivalries. On track rivalries abound in the modified division. When $50,000 is on the line, its all fair game for the talented aces that compete for this win.
17 – Pit Party. On Friday night everyone comes together to have a little fun and kick off the MEGA weekend. There’s a lot of fun to be had at this years “Pit Party” with a Live DJ!
18 – A lot of racing. Two nights, eight divisions, and nearly 200 cars… there’s plenty of racing action.
19 – A family outing. There is plenty of Family Camping Areas, where quiet hours are observed to provide a suitable environment for those with youngsters and fans who like to turn in early.
20 – Dustin Jarrett. One of the businesses best voices will grace the speedway’s press tower on Saturday night to provide you with great insight on the racers as he calls the action.
21 – Gear 2 Performance. As an added bonus Sunday’s feature winner will receive a $1,000 gift certificate towards the purchase of a brand new 17 foot GEAR 2 Performance ToolBox.
22 – Fireworks! There’s lots of pre-race pyro to stimulate all your senses. This fourth of July weekend we are going bigger than ever. A full fireworks show on Sunday night.
23 – Driver introductions. Making the field of twenty-six on Sunday sure deserves a big round of applause during one special intro for the drivers as we set the stage for the finale of the “MEGA 100”.
24 – Event merchandise. Here’s your chance to take home a souvenir from the weekend. Event shirts are priced “dirt cheap” at just $20 and come in all sizes and colors.
25 – Get your favorite driver’s t-shirt. In addition to the event shirts nearly all your favorite drivers will be selling their swag pit side out of their respective trailers. Stop by and get a shirt or autograph.
26 – Top-notch racetrack food. The concession stands serve everything from hot dogs and burgers to fries, pork bar-b-q sandwiches, drinks, famous fish sandwiches, and more.
27 – Superb quality lighting. There aren’t any dark spots at The Bullring anymore. HRA promotions are proud that new lights now shine bright over the racing surface since last May.
28 – Incredibly talented fields. Drivers with huge national wins, championships, and more will all battle for a spot in the features.
29 – Drivers from all over the map. The map will be littered with entries. Last year over a dozen states entered including New York, Virginia, Tennessee, Indiana, Florida, & many more.
30 – Around 30 pre-entries already in. Guys from New York to North Carolina have already entered. It’s shaping up to be one of the best fields yet and growing daily.
31 – Emotions run high. With so much on the line during the MEGA 100 weekend, competitors sometimes can’t hold back their emotions.
32 – Packed pit area. Packed is putting it lightly. Nearly 200 race teams will have the spacious speedway pit area bulging along the middle island.

34 – It’s new and ultra cool. Returning for it’s third season the event is one of the coolest in any division of dirt racing all year loaded with fresh new ideas for your viewing pleasure.
35 – Late-night bench racing. Pop open a beverage, strike up a conversation with a fellow fan or racer in the campground…and after reliving past races and solving all of the motorsports world’s problems, you’ll look at the time and wonder how it flew by so fast.
36 – Kyle Strickler. Perhaps the hottest driver in the country. He’s coming off a $50,000 win in Iowa and $10,000 in WI. But the Mooresville, NC driver is yet to earn a crown jewel modified win here at the Tyler County Speedway.
37 – Camping / Fishing. Built along the Middle Island Creek there is plenty of fishing opportunities while you recharge and wait for the next race night. Camp out and take advantage of this local fishing hole.
38 – The spotlight. The social and online media sources will be working over time with MEGA 100 news as it’s one of the most well-covered modified events of the year. Great way to get noticed.
39 – Modlite MEGA Nationals. The STARS ModLites will race for $1,000 to win in back to back nights during this new event over the weekend. Huge money for the division across the country.
40 – Four-wide pace lap. A beautiful sight. The best of the best from all over the Eastern U.S. Line-up four-abreast with fireworks lighting up the night sky above them while carrying our nations flag.
41 – Shawn Jett. He’s already earned his spot in the show by winning the Dickson Classic. He’s been incredible this season at the “Bullring”, can he add this one to his growing modified resume?
42 – David Stremme. Stremme has been quietly winning races this season on board his own built Lethal Chassis. He’s locked into the big show by way of a win at Wythe Raceway in early June. Will he be the car to chase on Sunday night?
43 – The Tar Heel Tandem. Taylor Cook and Derrick Ramey have been running really well this season. Cook broke through in his last appearance at the speedway during the Hillbilly 100. Will either driver win their first ever $10k show?
44 – Determined officials. Mother Nature doesn’t win battles at Tyler County without a fight.

46 – Local Favorites. There’s a lot of them. Jesse Wisecarver leads a strong list of locals ready to get the biggest win of their careers. Passing points is a great equalizer so it’s anyones shot at the big money. DJ Cline scored his ‘MEGA’ win last season on the final night worth $4k.
47 – Jacob Hawkins. Dominance. Can the home state driver from Fairmont repeat as “MEGA 100” champion for the third straight year?

The hosting venue; The Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV is a ¼ mile dirt oval nestled in the hills of scenic West Virginia along the historic Middle Island Creek. On site camping makes the Tyler County Speedway/Fairgrounds a race fans vacation destination year after year. Lots of great camping available including primitive or full hook ups. Ideal for a weekend getaway or a day of family fun, the fairground has shower facilities, shelters for picnicking, playground areas, and nearby fishing available.
