(Middlebourne, WV) The Tyler County Speedway would present the fan favorite 4th edition of ‘Pack the Track’ Night at the Bullring. An overflow crowd would welcome 136 competitors to the high bank ¼ mile speedway. Picking up highly sought after hardware would be Josh Baldwin, Derek Doll, Jamie Watson, Jesse Wisecarver, Kenny Isner, April Tennant, Luke Hyre and Tripp Perine. The highlight for many fans was the opportunity to head trackside for Family Autograph Night at intermission as the pitful of racecars would spill onto the frontstretch meeting and greeting fans young and old. Lots of memories are always made on this special night at the Tyler County Speedway and the Hometown Racing Association would like to thank all of the talented racers for participating and making the kids smile.
Starting off the evening the massive crowd would pay its respect to the late great Pat Herrick, the first ever feature winner at the Tyler County Speedway as his grandson Brandon Fluharty would take to the track during the National Anthem. A strong field of twenty three modlites would sign with Tracy Fritter picking up the $100 fast time bonus presented by Steve and Sharon McVey of C&S Photos. In the traditional running of the 7th Annual Pat Herrick Memorial for the Jenkins Auto Parts Modlite division it was perennial victor Josh Baldwin of Beallsville, Ohio driving the Saffell Trucking/ J & T Paving Evolution race car holding off a charging and pesky Ryan Baker and eleventh starting Sam Richards for podium spots with Tracy Fritter and Daniel Eddy rounding out the top five.
A jim dandy would shape up in the J&R Excavating Super Late Model division presented by Midcap Land and Timber. Front row starters would see Kyle Thomas and Derek Doll blast off with Doll grabbing the lead and setting a torrid pace while all eyes were on the ‘Kamikaze Kid’ Tyler Carpenter who would make his first appearance of 2017. The multi time feature winner all over the Mid-Ohio Valley would quickly move into second and set his sights on the lead car of Doll. Running high and low the brazen Carpenter would make his move exiting turn four to overpower previous race winner Doll. Carpenter seemed poised to park his Kryptonite in victory lane during the races mid-point stages but as the laps began to wane so did Carpenters lead as Doll began to reel the leader back in. As the duo would approach lap traffic nearing the races conclusion, the former three time winner Doll would overtake Carpenter for the lead once again. A terrific race featuring multiple lead changes and great side by side racing, Doll would park his Rocket Chassis back in the Tyler County Speedway victory circle for the 4th time in 2017. Following Doll and Carpenter was Michael Lake, Kyle Thomas and Steve Weigle rounding out the top five after a great race long battle for position. Doll pilots the Marshall Doll owned Throttle Nations/Payne’s Trucking/BSI Well Service sharp looking #87 Rocket Chassis.
It was Zanesville, Ohio’s Jesse Wisecarver aboard the Ed Watson owned familiar #101 Rocket by Ruhlman/Express Services Truck Repair & Towing/Shelby Watson Racing/ Express Tire making his first visit to the ‘Bullring’ in 2017 a successful one by picking up the 2 Brothers Motorsports AMRA Modified Feature win over a stellar 24 car field. The talented racer, getting some laps in before the July 4th Mega 100 weekend would roll around the well-manicured Tyler County Speedway top shelf with surgical like maneuvers overtaking early race leader Lance Elson on his way to the win. Wisecarver would hold off a hard charging Shawn Jett, Chad Smith, 11th starting Nick Corbitt and Lance Elson to round out the top five. Next week will see the best open wheel racers head back to the ‘Bullring’ for the running of the 13th Annual Dickson Classic.
In the Appalachian Mineral Title Company FASTRAK late model division it would be Friendly, West Virginia’s Jamie Watson garnering his first ever FASTRAK late model win. Watson chauffeurs the former Tyler Carpenter Kryptonite chassis. At the drop of the green Watson would blast off his front row starting spot and use his skill and smoothness to roll around the speedway’s baby smooth surface to claim the win over the always fast and multiple feature winner Kyle Lukon. A fierce battle behind the lead duo would see a closing Paul Wilmoth in the RJ1, Tyler Stutler and back from injury Ryan Payne slug it out for top five spots. The Appalachian Mineral Title Company FASTRAK late models will take center stage next Saturday Night as the speedway presents the $2,000 to win 16th Annual Eaton/Childers King of the Ring invitational.
Picking up his first win of the season in the Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmod division presented by Poske Performance Parts would be Hannibal, Ohio’s Kenny ‘Radar’ Isner. Another stout field of 26 Hotmods would take the challenge of taming the ‘Bullring’ and when the dust cleared it was all Kenny Isner as the driver of the Citizens National Bank/ Grissells Funeral Home/ Letter Rip/ Performance Off Road D & D Chasiss would cruise to the easy win. Following Isner across the stripe was a seasons best 2nd place run for Paul Baker, Roland Bell, Jordan Shaffer and Daniel Muldrew.
