(Middlebourne, WV) On the heels of the announcement that the Grand-daddy of all the Dirt Late Model majors returning to ‘the Bullring’ this Labor Day weekend and after a needed racing vacation after the successful three day Mega 100 the Tyler County Speedway will swing open the gates again this Saturday Night, July 23rd for the 3rd running of the Simonton Windows EDGE Hotmod Workin’ Man World Championship.
The EDGE Hot Mod racers are eagerly anticipating the signature event for the region’s original and most economical modified division. The 2016 season has seen continued growth rewarded with multiple features per event night and first time feature winners along with class sponsorship provided by Gear2 Graphics and Dave Poske Performance Parts. The ‘Simonton Windows Working Man World Championship’ joins the ‘Tammy Clegg Memorial’ and ‘The Wild One’ weekend races showcasing the class and racers.
The 3rd Annual Working Man World Championship will once again be sponsored by ‘Simonton Windows’ a locally based building materials manufacturer, and a perfect representative of the “working man” title. Windows, doors and building materials built by and for American workers by ‘ Simonton Windows’ aligns perfectly with the race theme, and brings the hard working pride of America’s backbone to the title and represents the race’s participants.
The 3rd annual WMWC will spotlight the hometown stars from all around the region. Favorites include defending WMWC winner Travis Thomas, smooth driving Mick Baker, hard charger Roland Bell as well as recent and first time feature winners Wiley Ford, Daniel Muldrew and ‘Wild One’ champion Steve Magyar. Additional names to watch are Lou Ennis, Scott Moore, Stevi Magyar, Brian Clegg and a pit area full of hard working and hard driving local heroes, all gunning to claim the classes most prestigious event. This weekend all will trade work boots and hard hats for firesuits and helmets as the regions best weekend warriors will see who joins Thomas and inaugural winner Chad Smith in the Tyler County Speedway record books as Champion of the Working Man World Championship!
The EDGE Hot Mods are closely aligned with most major sanctions like IMCA & USRA regarding rules for this class. The combination of limiting suspensions, engines and drive train components, along with a common sense mandated tire rule all work in harmony to limit the expense involved and the horsepower needed to succeed. Working as intended since its inception by other sanctions across the United States, growth has been tremendous and the class is sustainability for the tracks and racers alike. Additionally, the competition has been outstanding. Its success has brought new opportunities for the class and its racers..
